AHEAD BY A CENTURY!!!

LOOK WHO TURNED 100 TODAY!

This is an extremely proud day for the Davies family as its most senior member hits the century mark. Evelyn Davies (Price) - surviving wife of the late Irving Davies is celebrating her 100th birthday today.

Gramma, Evy, Big Gramma, Old Bag, The Queen Mother are some of the more famous names she lives by. Evelyn has lived a very happy, interesting, hard at times life that so many of us are incredibly amazed with.

Born in the south of Wales Evelyn lived a very simple life in a large family that very often times struggled to make ends meet. It was the children of the Price family that were put to work early to help provide for all. Evelyn spent much of her youth scrubbing floors and cleaning rooms at some of the wealthier family houses and this entrenched her with the work ethic she still has today (although it has slowed down the past few years).

As a young lady and when she had the time Evelyn enjoyed singing and dancing and it was these things that led her to meet Irving. Music played a very large role in their lives as it does to most Welsh people. It was the love of music that began their courtship and eventually led to their marriage. Once married, Evelyn had the unappreciative task of taking care of Irving's ill parents. It took up a very large part of their newly married lives and was the main reason why their first son Walford was born a little later in their lives (although she still claims to this day their was no intention of having either child). The unexpected pregnancy and arrival of Walford began the change in their lives... Low and behold 11 years later along came Howard.

The boys were the pride and joy of the Davies family. Evelyn and Irving did everything they possibly could for their family. One day while in their mid 50's Irving came up with the idea of moving his family to Canada to gives their boys the opportunities in life that he didn't see them having in the U.K. Evelyn thought her husband had gone "out of his mind".

"We can't leave our home and family here to go and start over in Canada Irving...we are much too old", claimed Evelyn.

That being said he persisted that this was necessary and he saw endless opportunities across the "pond". Although the move was very hard emotionally the family took this great risk. Evelyn missed her family dearly, but never has had any regret regarding the move. In fact, it is one of the things in life that she is very happy she did.

Wally and Howard went on to have exceptional careers and are both very grateful for what their parents did for them.

Evelyn and Irving managed to make it past their 50th wedding anniversary an accomplishment not seen by many couples. It was a celebration that is very fond in Evelyn's memory as it was also the first time her extended family had the opportunity to go back "home" to the U.K. and visit the Davies' roots.

It was unfortunately not long after their 50th Irving began a long hard fought yet unsuccessful battle with cancer. Although Evelyn lost her husband she continued her journey on with a heavy heart. It was the awareness to cancer that their Dad had that led both of her boys to regular check ups. Wally and Howard have both recently battled this disease and won!!!

Gramma (as she is known to me) has lived through 2 world wars, a depression, the sinking of the Titanic, being held up at gun point and many other horrific world tragedies. She had a terrific marriage, 2 boys she is so proud of and extended families that she couldn't be happier with.

Evelyn lives every day as it could be her last and tries very hard to be very fun and young at heart. It has been her zest for life that amazes all of us and makes us so proud and fortunate to have been able to a part of this special ladies life.

From your entire family - Wally and Molly, Howard and Ruthe, Allison, Janie and Jeff, Jennifer and Richard, Paul and Sandra, Corey, Andrew, Matthew, Emily, and Sarah. I would like to wish you the all the best and for a celebration to one of the most special people to ever lay foot on God's Great Earth!!

From my late Grandpa I would like to say, you were everything a wife could possibly have been and for that he would say, "MANY THANKS".

I love you Gramma...Congratulations!!

HOW LIFE HAS CHANGED IN ONE YEAR!!!

1st of all I would like to apologize for the length of time it has taken to update this site.

It has been a long time coming and I must say at the time of my last post I was unaware of what was about to cause a dramatic change in our lives.

While we were away in Cuba and Sandy's little friend decided not to visit. I can go into details of how this occurred, but will leave it at that. The absence of this monthly occurrence didn't start to cause alarm until about five days later.

As many of you know, we had been trying to have a child for basically 6 years and given a 3% chance by our doctors of reproducing. This had put tremendous strain on our lives as we had tried many different (and expensive) fertility scenarios. We had all but given up and accepted the fact that we wouldn't be having children of our own...but we never lost the dream.

When we found out that Sandy was pregnant it was the most exciting, but cautious point of our lives. We were both very concerned with complications and didn't want anything to go wrong.

As the pregnancy progressed we ran into some complications one particular being a tear in the uterus which caused some bed ridden time for Sandy and un-nerving time for both of us. We learned about how we should handle the situation and again stayed very cautious.

It was very exciting when the first tri-mester ended and were able to tell our family and friends about our news. As time went on we anxiously awaited the next stage of our lives.

On June 23rd, 2006 at 9:00 am a beautiful 21 1/2", 7lb 8oz. girl - SARAH GRACE EVELYN DAVIES was born into this world at Royal Victoria Hospital in Barrie,Ontario.

Sarah is our miracle baby and gives us all the faith in the world. She proves that dreams can come true. I am so proud of Sandy for putting up with me and my longing to have children of our own. She stood beside me through some very hard times and has been my rock and support.

I can not tell you how excited we were on the day that Sarah was born. As I sat beside Sandy holding her hand (after she had her spinal injection) she said to me, "When are they going to start?"

I said, "I think they are almost done."

Dr. Browning concurred what I said and moments later he held the most beautiful baby in the world up and said, "it's a girl!!!!!!"

This was the proudest moment in my life and believe it or not the only time that both Sandy and I shed a tear. Most of you who know how emotional I am may find that hard to believe, but then again no alcohol was involved!

Sarah is now 41/2 months old and has learned to do "raspberries" and is almost rolling over. Sandy and Sarah are in swimming lessons right now, she is the youngest baby by about three months...A future little "Guppy". She is a very healthy, beautiful, and quite an easy to take care of baby (although we are a little biased).

We would like to thank all of our friends and family who supported and understood the trials and tribulations we went through trying to get pregnant.

If there is one thing I would like to say I have learned to end this incredible story it is this:

Having a baby isn't a right, it is a privilege...If you are one of the lucky people blessed enough to get the opportunity cherish it like nothing else. There are many, many people in this world that would give everything they have to be so fortunate.

I hope that this inspires any of my friends that are having troubles getting pregnant to NEVER give up hope because sometimes your dreams can come true.

A DREAM COME TRUE!!!

We just got home on Friday from a relaxing trip to Holgiun, Cuba where we met some really great people and had a terrific time.

Upon arrival to the airport our worries about Wilma were pretty much behind us. Holgiun is closer to the Eastern tip of Cuba while Wilma was passing the West side. After our plane landed we exchanged our Canadian dollars to Cuban Peso's and jumped on the bus to Playa Turquesa.

Once at the resort we got settled in and headed straight for the beach...It was beautiful; nice sand, clear blue water and extremely hot!! Sandy settled in to tanning mode while I went straight in for a dip. We hit "the hay" quite early. Our plans were to get organized for the week by booking excursions, and planning out our a la carte meals first thing in the morning.

On our first full day we hooked up with a couple from Grimsby as well as a family from Brampton. We drank and drank!!! Sandy and Charlie took over the disco by stealing shooters, and reorganizing the DJ's music. The girls danced and the boys drank!! As the night came to a close, Laura thought her and Richard should get going as Richard was looking a little "tired". He ended the night with a "crash" that had us all in hysterics - laughing (except Laura).

The priority was to get Sandy booked in to swim with the dolphins. Ever since we met she has always said how much she wanted this. We arrived by boat to the dolphin aquarium and had a quick tour before the swim. Sandy was starting to get scared and the guy in charge decided she would be the first to get in. To her credit she started down the ladder, but she was trembling as the dolphins were waiting at the bottom rung. She managed to get in and her fear quickly subsided. The dolphins splashed her, kissed her, and escorted her out to a spot while the others got in. The dolphins jumped around them and they all had a real good time. Sandy loved her experience as they spent at least 20 minutes in the water. After the swim was done I gave all the Cubans bubble gum which they really appreciated.

I thought it would be best if I came along to take pictures of Sandy, not to mention I was a little chicken to swim with dolphins. Since I was pretty much the only person in our group of ten people not swimming I took pictures for everyone. There was a couple who didn't have a camera so Sandy said I would take pictures for them and we would e-mail them. I got some great shots of Sandy as well as everyone else.

We went and had a drink with the couple who forgot their camera and got to know them. They were from South Wales and were on their honeymoon....This is where things got really interesting. The more we inquired about them we found out that they were married in the chapel at Bridge End - The exact same place that Ev and Irv (my grandparents) were married in over 75 years ago. This sent chills up our spines as we had visited the chapel (and pub) on our visit to Wales a few years earlier!! We couldn't wait to tell Gramma.

There was also a dolphin show which the locals decided I should take part in because I gave them all the bubble gum. My fears subsided after seeing everyone so safe with the dolphins in the controlled environment. The show was amazing!! I was asked to dive in with them and swim out to the middle. Two dolphins lifted me up by my feet and threw me way up in the air. It was an experience that won't be forgot.

For the rest of our vacation we enjoyed the sun, sand, pools, people and drinks!!

If you go to Cuba (at least Playa Turquesa) expect a great time. We were treated very well by the staff who really appreciated anything we gave them. The food is very average, but you will definitely not starve. We met some great new friends. We enjoyed some interesting conversations. Enjoy the "Pizza Hut" on the beach!! Thanks to Anne for pointing this place out to us...we would go back.

WHAT A DAY!!!

On Monday August 22nd I had the opportunity to put together an extremely amazing day for some key CPGA accounts. With a lot of work we were able to have Sergio Garcia present for the launch of the new 360 golf shoe to the Canadian Market.

Sergio entertained the fans keeping everyone laughing and put on an excellent clinic that was emceed by Bob Weeks. He made jokes, hit some trick shots and even took a few jabs at Bob!!

After the clinic Sergio took some pics and played golf with some of our guests. Everyone had great things to say about the day.

Sometimes in my job I really get great opportunities to be involved in some special events. Although everyone sees all the glamour they don't realize the work involved in these functions. I really love what I do and am grateful to work in the industry that I have always dreamed of being in.

BAILEY DAVIES

November 3rd, 1999 - July 20th, 2005

I remember back to the arguments Sandy and Corey had against me about getting a dog. They wanted one SO bad and I adamantly refused..."You'll never take care of it, who's going to walk it and especially who's going to clean up after it??? Dogs are too much work, they need too much attention, and you have to take them with you or board them when you go away."

With Sandy, as you all know, when she has it in her mind and if she persists with me I will crack and get her what she wants (but it does usually take a pretty good fight!!) I really didn't want a dog, not that I don't love them, but our humble abode can't handle them...Right Delilah!!! This leads you in to the story of Bailey.

Bailey was born on November 3rd, 1999 and for the Christmas of 1999 I thought it would be a good idea to give Sandy all of the necessities to take care of a cat. That Christmas morning I confessed that I thought that a cat would be better for our living evironment. Well, Sandy HATES cats!!! My present was seen as weird, but needless to say Sandy went along with the idea and the next day went out with Corey to look for a kitten. Sandy and Corey brought home this little black ball of fluff!! This kitten was so cute, and we were all instantly attached. We needed to name her and as soon as Sandy said "Bailey" we knew it was right. I think she was named after a very fine liqueur, although when the name was mentioned that really wasn't what we were thinking...or was it???

Sandy is the best mother in the world, and she took right to getting Bailey her shots, having her declawed, and feeding her special "Kitten food". Sandy still hated cats, but loved Bailey so much, and was really happy with her.

Corey was forever playing with Bailey - shooting lasers off the wall, chasing strings etc. Corey also was elected for the role of cleaning the kitty litter, which to his credit he never really fussed about once.

I saw something very special happen in our home having Bailey. One thing that I (and Sandy) are most proud of is the affection that Corey has for animals. Bailey has played a big part in Corey's love for animals...If you remember back about four or five years ago there was a Puppy Mill exposed that was not taking care of the animals at all, The Humane Society came in and took all the dogs. Corey saw this story on The VR news and reacted right away, he asked his Mom if he could make a donation from his paper route money for these animals - which he did. Corey also donated some of his own time to the Humane Society.

One day we came home to find Bailey completely out of energy, she had thrown up quite a few times and didn't look good. We didn't know what to do?? Sandy took Bailey to a veterinary Clinic and we found out that she had swallowed a PENNY!! The penny was lodged in her small intestine and she needed an operation to remove it. Needless to say that we went through with the operation and it saved her life. As time passed by Bailey's demeanor really changed. After the operation she was petrified of people other than Sandy, Corey and me.

Bailey was a repetitive cat. Every morning sleeping in our room she would get up at 5AM walk over to our door stopper and BUZZ it until Sandy would wake up to let her out of our room. In the early evening every night at about dusk she would have her skitzophrenic run around the house. If you left a glass on the counter she would jump up and knock it off smashing it on the floor. As soon as you would wake up every morning she would be there for her morning pets and even CUDDLES!!

Unfortunately Bailey was not friendly to anyone else. People would try to be her friend, but she refused. Poor Rob...I am sure he's going to miss his morning attack. Emily, Miranda, Brooke, Dave, Mom(s) Ruthe and Linda, Rich, Jen...none could get in a nice pet, believe me they all tried. We really believe that this was a result of the penny operation and it is too bad.

Bailey also unfortunately recently started urinating around the house. After some awful tears and Sandy calling the Vet and the Humaine Society we had to make a sad decision.

Sandy, Corey and I are going to miss you Bailey. You were a lot of fun and the cutest cat we've ever seen. It is going to be different around our home without you.

Moving On...

Last night we had our final Dinner with our closest friends Dave and Dee Heuther. April, Frank, Angelina and Tom were there to send off four of the most beautiful people we have been able to share our lives with. It was extremely hard to see them go, but I am sure that they are moving on to brighter horizons and we wish them all the best!!

Dave and Dee were the first true friends that Sandy and I have made as a couple together. When I say this I mean that it wasn't someone Sandy or I knew first. We met the day they brought us over a bottle of wine when we moved in on the street (before our marriage) and from there our friendship truly blossomed.

Sandy and Dee created the best of Friendships ever!! They started out meeting at fireworks, while I was at the ACC watching the Leafs play the Sabres in the Stanley Cup playoffs, and really began to hit it off. Sandy got comfortable with Dee right away to the point when I was meeting everyone for the first time at Frank and April's Halloween blast that Sandy had to be carried home and put to bed by 10 PM from all their drinking shenanigans!! Sandy and Dee enjoyed everything together from family trips and vacations to dinners and dancing to fun times around our pool. I know that Sandy and Dee have had some conversations that have never been revealed and their precious friendship will continue on forever. Although they are hundreds of Miles apart they will remain best of friends and the phone and computer will keep there every day calls still possible.

Dave and I have always had a great relationship and I will always consider him one of my best friends. I said not long ago in one of my druken stupers that I loved him like a brother and I meant it!! I have always looked up to him for friendship and support and will miss him dearly. I am going to miss the fun times, the helpful advice and the camaraderie amongst the guys. Dave has always been a dreamer and one thing that I admire about Dave is he really reaches for the stars. When we created a little idea together he took the ball and ran!! It is his passion of giving his family the best possible life that he can that makes him the man I am proud of today.

Our families have grown together over the years. We have seen Miranda learn to ride her bike, we've helped her learn to swim, watched her enjoy her time with Mom and Dad on the soccer pitch. We have seen her grow from a toddler into a beautiful young girl. Miranda has always been comfortable around us and we are so excited she is going to live a new chapter in her young life. She has always been really close with us and we love her like she is a part of our family.

Corey has grown a ton in our time on Nightingale. He has really developed in to a good young man. Dave and Dee have been there for him through good and rough times. They have really helped support him. He has become quite an avid golfer, loves his music, video games, computers, and cars. Dave (as well as Richard) have always had no problems conversing with Corey over these things as they all love them!! Corey was able to babysit the Heuther kids quite often and I know he is going to miss them as much as us.

I can remember seeing this little bundle of joy arrive in to the Heuther household not too long ago. She was the smallest little thing with the brightest eyes you've ever seen!! Brooke was an instant hit with Sandy and she has always clung to her like she was her second Mom. Me on the other hand...Well Brooke wanted no part of Paul. She would cling to her Mom or Dad and bury her face avoiding me like the plague!! This continued for at least a year! Then one day she suddenly started asking about me, she seemed inquisitive. Brooke would then play this little game where she would play shy to me just to get my goat!! Eventually she came around and has become so close with me. She is also my video buddy, we have loved watching movies together. The other night when we went over to say what we thought were our last good byes I was lying on their couch (imagine that!!), she came over crawled up on me and cuddled me so tight that my heart broke.

We are going to really miss the girls and can't wait until we see them next already!! Miranda and Brooke are a part of our extended family and will always have a place in our home.

Sandy, Corey and I are going continue our journey on Nightingale with our friends from the street, but there will always be space left vacant from our best friends moving on. We are excited about the next chapter in both the Davies' and Heuther's lives.

We will cherish all of our times and pictures together. We look forward to creating more great moments in the future!! We wish Dave, Dee, Miranda and Brooke the best of luck in Texas!!

Thanks for the Memories!!

Love your friends forever,

Paul, Sandy and Corey
